Built from 1518 to 1527 by Gilles Berthelot, the castle of Azay-le-Rideau is a marvel of grace and whiteness, dominated by turrets that still recall the medieval era. Built partially on the Indre, this gem has one of the first staircases with straight ramp – the Italian -, a decor and furniture of great richness that are distinguished by an exceptional quality and a magnificent set of tapestries of 16th and 17th century. Around the building, an English park of 8 ha was made from 1810.
