The gastronomical symbol of the region : Choucroute garnie , which is Alsatian sauerkraut with sausage (Frankfurter) and other salted meats (mostly pork) as well as steamed potatoes. To make the alsatian sauerkraut, cabbage is finely schredded, layered with salt and juniper and left to fermet in wooden barrels.

Kouglof glazed with Marc de Gewurztraminer, red fruit coulis or Streussel with glass of wine.
A Kouglof is a yeast based cake (often with raisins), traditionally baked in a distinctive circular Bundt mold. You’ll get to try the iced version of it which is a great alternative fro desert.

A streussel is a crumb cake which comes directly from the german influence.

Pain d’épices or Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg or cinnamon and sweetened with honey, suger or molasses.
Pain d’épices is mostly eaten during winter times, especially during the Christmas market.
