Why choose this Paris tour ?
On this full-day tour, you and your private driver-guide will explore the emblematic sites and the landing beaches of D-Day.
We will visit the battlefield at La Point du Hoc, where numerous bombs craters still scatter the landscape. We will scout several sections of Omaha Beach, retracing the steps of the US soldiers who managed to secure a beachhead on the most hostile seashore on D-Day. We will pay respects to the thousands of fallen heroes buried at the US cemetery. And we will see the original German canons still fixed in their concrete bunkers, along with the remains of the artificial harbor on Gold Beach in Arromanches. If of interest and if time remains, we can drive through the quaint town of Bayeux to view the infamous ancient “Tapestry of Bayeux”.
Make the most of your Paris adventure
What makes Normandy, Omaha Beach & US Cemetery Full-Day from Paris a unique experience ?
Pick up at your place in Paris around 7am. Then 3 hour drive to the Normandy Beaches with coffee stop along the way.
The Pointe du Hoc is a 110 ft cliff overlooking the English Channel located a few miles west of Omaha Beach. A strategic position where the Germans assembled a series of artillery and fortifications and where the US Second Ranger Battalion attacked and captured after scaling the impressive rock face on June 6th, 1944.
You’ll be able to explore original German bunkers by walking between the bomb craters on a path following the bluff.
Discover several points of interest and walk the sands of Omaha beach, the largest of the D-Day assault areas, where the US landed and suffered their greatest casualties.
The cemetery covers 172 acres overlooking the beautiful bluffs of Omaha Beach and contains the graves of 9,386 fallen heros, most of whom lost their lives during the D-Day landings.
Discover the most famous historical graves, stories behind the soldiers, the Memorial, and the Garden of the Missing.
The Longues-sur-Mer artillery battery includes a firing command post and four casemates housing 150mm canons. This battery is the only site in Normandy where all the original guns still remain.
Arromanches is a perfect location for a lunch stop. Although today a small resort town, you can still see remains of the large breakwater concrete structure and parts of the steel causeway from the artificial harbour “Mulberry” constructed here by the British in June 1944. This was a vital location for funneling resources to the allied forces. It’s a marvel of logistics and engineering.
