What makes Discover Paris by Night: Bohemian Walking Tour a unique experience ?

We will meet our group at one of the most iconic buildings in the entire city, in the heart of the 5th district, the famous Latin Quarter. This beautiful mausoleum, built in the 18th century, is where the bodies of significant figures in the history and culture of France would rest eternally. Voltaire, Rousseau, and Marie Curie, just to name a few.

As we walk along to admire this vibrant area of the city, we will come across a tiny yet bustling square. Once a quiet little oasis in the city, it has now gained worldwide fame since the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris” put it on the map. Many fans of the show visit it daily. Together, we will discover some of the locations where they filmed the show.

Next in our adventure, we will reach this peaceful green area of the city, probably one of the nicest parks in Paris, where locals and tourists escape to get away from the busy streets. Once imagined as an Italian palace by Queen Marie de Medicis, it is nowadays a must-see in the city and has been featured in countless movies and TV shows such as “Les Misérables,” “Emily in Paris,” “Gossip Girl,” among others.

On our way to some of the most recognized cafés in the city, we will discover this beautiful square and 17th-century church, worldwide famous since it was featured and discussed in a best-selling book and movie. Hence the nickname: “The Da Vinci Code church.”

Of course, we will also see one of the oldest churches in the city that gives its name to the entire neighborhood. This building is one of the few remaining vestiges of Roman art in the capital.

Nowadays very busy and touristy, once these 19th-century cafés were the heart of many artists and intellectuals. Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Ernest Hemingway, and Pablo Picasso, to name a few, frequented these cafes. These cafes are undoubtedly true Parisian icons.

We will walk through the arched entrance into Cour du Commerce Saint-André, an almost-hidden gem, and step back in time to the world of 1734. Here, we’ll discover Le Procope, the bistro founded in 1686 that remains popular to this day.

As you stroll along this pedestrian-only walkway, you’ll get an enchanting glimpse of what Paris looked like before Emperor Napoleon III, the nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, commissioned Baron Haussmann in 1852 to modernize the city.

The Latin Quarter is not only one of the most beautiful areas of Paris but also one of the unique medieval areas still left in the city. In fact, the Latin Quarter owes its name to the University of La Sorbonne . Since then, students have chosen this area of Paris to live, having a significant influence on France and promoting politically impactful student movements like the May 1968 Revolution.

While in this area, we will walk along the charming pedestrian Rue De La Huchette, which has a unique vibe due to the restaurants, bars, nightclubs, bistros, brasseries, Greek restaurants, and bustling cafés. This street was popular even in the Middle Ages! Additionally, Napoleon Bonaparte lived on this street, and even Ernest Hemingway stayed at the Hotel-du-Mont-Blanc. The bustling street also housed the famous jazz club Le Caveau de la Huchette during the 1950s and 60s, offering concerts by geniuses like Chet Baker.

Of course, no visit to this area is complete without checking out a very special bookstore in the city, visited by people such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and James Joyce, among others. This iconic bookshop has been immortalized in movies like “Before Sunset” or “Midnight in Paris.” On this tour, we will learn why this place became so famous.

As we come towards the end of the tour, we will walk past the most famous church in France and probably one of the most famous in Europe! This is hands-down one of the most photographed places in the entire city, so get your cameras ready!

We will say goodbye at the heart of Ile de la cité in Place Dauphine. Locals usually referre to this place as one of the most stunning and quiet places in the area. This place is surroned by restaurants and sometines local poeple meet here to play “petanque”. Once the tour finishes, you can either stay here having a drink or just walk to some near by locations where you will get lovely views of Paris.
