Travel from Paris to Château de Chambord. The towers of this castle will be familiar to Disney aficionados; it was the basis for the castle in “Beauty and the Beast.” Despite its origins as a royal hunting lodge, it was erected on a scale that must be seen to be believed.
Your guide will tell you all about the castle’s fascinating history before you go exploring on your own. Climb a stairway ostensibly constructed by Leonardo da Vinci, take in breathtaking turret-framed rooftop views, and spot wild deer roaming the grounds.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, board the bus again and go on to the next stop: the charming town of Blois. Spend part of your leisure time eating (at your own expense) at one of the restaurants located around the gorgeous and colorful Square Louis XII.
