Jouques Trip Overview
Wouldn’t it be fantastic to do an art workshop whilst visiting Provence? We offer a relaxing experience in an authentic and beautiful village, with a qualified teacher who is also a practicing artist. Jean-Louis has degrees in both fine art (BA Fine Art) and teaching (Dip Ed, Art) and 30 years of experience teaching art to all ages – so you can be confident that you will receive expert tuition. We never need to go very far and most sessions are on plein-air, reached by foot, in or around the village. Being an historical and beautiful village Jouques offers many aspects that are inspirational for any artist.
We offer a choice of two workshops at Artelier Provence, “a slice of Jouques” or “Ochres of Provence”
Our workshops can be customised to individual requirements and small groups.
We also offer 4 days art retreats with accommodation, ” art in provence” or “encaustic comes alive”
Jouques is an easy 45 minute bus ride from Aix-en-Provence, or a 30 minute journey by car.

Itinerary
We meet at 9.30am in the atelier for an introduction to art tools and techniques, we talk about drawing and composition, then walk to nearby sites for drawing en plein-air.
At 12.30pm we break for lunch which is taken at one of the local cafés (at your choice), then reconvene and work in the atelier at 2pm. Introduction to chosen media and painting techniques. We consider painting support, brushes, style, strategy of working with each medium. You choose your best composition and produce a beautiful painting. We finish around 6pm.
