What to Expect When Visiting Avignon, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, France

Your guide will greet you at your hotel lobby or at the pier with a name board and you will seat on board a comfortable air conditioned minivan with free beverages and wifi service.

Avignon and the Luberon area:The first drive will take you to Avignon, in the heart of the medieval town, listed on the world heritage patrimony and one of the main attractions in southern France. On the way, you will be already familiar with Provence as your guide will be very informative about the region.
Enjoy a guided walking tour in Avignon before strolling by your own. The next stop in Gordes medieval hitlltop village. Do not miss the dramatic views over the valley and possibly relax for a lunch ( your guide wil be happy to suggest you a great place ). During the lavender blooming period do the miss the cistercian Senanque Abbey surrounded with lavender fields on the foot of the village.
A short driver across lavenders and sunflowers wil take you next to Roussillon, also known as ” the Colorado of Provence ” with its open air ocre quarry and path.
At last, you will stop in Menerbes, one of the most authentic and beautifull Luberon villages. Optionally, we can organize a wine tasting.
Arles and the Alpilles area: Discover the ancient part of Arles, also known as the “little Rome” with its rich roman and medieval patrimony. Drive through the gorgeous countryside, on the side roads we love, and discover: The roman aqueduct of Fontvieille, a journey through time and local traditions, Les Baux, a legend of Provence, a must see village with the famous valley of Hell, the quarries of lights (optional), ancient bauxite quarries with a multimedia show unique in the world!, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence where Van Gogh spent a year, between antique roman ruins and olive trees, a little town where the only problem is finding the strength to leave!, Eygalières is Provence personified a small definition of France and its lifestyle.
Marseille, Aix en Provence and Cassis: drive to Aix-en-Provence. You will walk the famous cours Mirabeau and have a tour in the old part of the city, which displays a rich patrimony, market places and elegant boutiques along narrow old charming streets. Next is Cassis fishing village. Admire the breathtaking panoramas along the cliff road of the Calanques national park. You will make a stop in Cap Canaille, an idyllic photo point of view overlooking the gulf of Cassis. This break will give you the opportunity to have your lunch (not included) on a terrasse facing the port.
Your next stop is Marseille. Enjoy a 20 minutes drive along the beautiful coastal road. In Marseille, you will observe the iconic basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde before having an instructive walking city tour where you will spot the highlights of one of the oldest cities in France.
