What to Expect When Visiting Avignon, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, France
Get to see the highlights of Provence region with a very scenic and full of diversity itinerary covering the city of Avignon and the Luberon regional park hilltop villages featuring Gordes on board a minivan with your national guide and driver. This is a door to door private tour that can be fully customized acording to your wish and expectations.
Your guide will greet you at your hotel lobby or at the pier with a name board and you will seat on board a comfortable air conditioned minivan with free beverages and wifi service.
The first drive will take you to Avignon, in the heart of the medieval town, listed on the world heritage patrimony and one of the main attractions in southern France. On the way, you will be already familiar with Provence as your guide will be very informative about the region.
Enjoy a guided walking tour in Avignon before strolling by your own. You will discover the main buildings including of course the Palace of the Popes and Saint Benezet bridge over the Rhone river.
The next stop in Gordes, a medieval hitlltop village and pearl of he Luberon regional park. Do not miss the dramatic views over the valley from the walls and possibly relax for a lunch ( your guide wil be happy to make recommendations according to your wish ). During the lavender blooming period do the miss the cistercian Senanque Abbey surrounded with lavender fields on the foot of the village.
A short driver across lavenders and sunflowers wil take us next to Roussillon, also known as ” the Colorado of Provence ” with its open air ocre quarry and path.
At last, we will stop in Menerbes, one of the most authentic and beautifull Luberon village. Optionally, we can organize a wine tasting.
