We offer a fun and creative experience for children > 3 years. Children will learn how to handle materials; each child will be assisted in designing and creating his/her own work of art. For example, the top of a box, a coaster or a photo frame. Children will work with pre-cut tiles, but there is also a possibility to work with ceramic for children more than 10 years old. Adults work with ceramic. Children under 10 must be accompanied by one adult. ⚠️ You should take into account that the artwork produced by the end of the workshop will have to be grouted by staff. Usually, the artwork can be picked up later on in the afternoon or the next morning if the workshop has taken place in the afternoon. Hi, my name is Matteo and thank you for being here!  In my family business we make Tuscan pottery since generations, and after achieving the Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor we decided to open our knowledge to everyone that is curious to discover that very ancient tradition and wants to learn its secrets. In a full immersive two/three hours class we will experience together all the process in ceramic making.  Our shop in town is like our house, it is open since twenty years and it will be a pleasure to share our passion with you. A concentrate for those who are curious to learn more about the majolica production of Vietri sul mare ceramics and its tradition. You will have a broad overview and you will experiment with various techniques.

It is fun to work together and share tools. Working with clay there will be a way to tell the production cycle of majolica and, for the little ones, to put into practice some notion of geometry and basic physics.

We'll start with the basics of working with clay, and through the slab technique, you'll shape, sculpt, and design your unique piece. Once your mug is crafted, you'll have the option to decorate it with textures, stamps, or patterns before it gets fired in the kiln. This experience is all about creativity, fun, and learning something new. Originating from Kanazawa, Kutani ware is a distinctive style of Japanese porcelain famous for its vibrant colors and intricate designs. As the only Kutani ware kiln in the city, Kutani Kosen Kiln, established in 1870, remains one of the most revered ceramic studios in the region. The kiln produces exquisite handcrafted pottery using time-honored techniques, with skilled craftsmen specializing in the delicate art of painting and glazing. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn the drawing techniques on Kutani ware. During this approx. 1 hour workshop, you will sketch and draw your design on a blank vessel and select your preferable colors from the Japanese pallette for your design before the workshop is concluded. Later, your work will be completed by a skilled craftsmen based on your selected colors by using traditional Kutani pigments. After painting, the piece will be fired in the kiln and shipped to you within about three months (shipping fee is at your expense).
