A 7-hour day-trip to the scenic peninsula of Reykjanes to satisfy any photographer, wildlife observer, urban or rural explorer, and casual tourist looking for a fresh take on Iceland. Find yourself between the continents, seek ghosts and hidden creatures, enjoy lakes in volcanic craters, see freshly solidified lava from the last volcanic eruption and marvel at the multi-colored peninsula yet to be fully explored by travelers. Tour includes round-trip transportation from central Reykjavik with a professional guide and is limited to a max of 17 people. Optional drop-off at the Blue Lagoon or Keflavik Airport is available. The Reykjanes Peninsula, especially around Grindavík, remains geologically active. While no lava is currently flowing, an eruption could resume at any time. If that happens and certain areas close, this tour will adapt into an active volcano experience, stopping at the best possible viewpoint to witness the eruption—if conditions allow. !!!

FRISKY TROLLS offers same stops as elves plus unique fissure cave / inside of a inactive volcano, alternative 4×4 route and on top of that you'll receive shiny gifts. Tour would last around 8hrs and it's balanced not to hard nor easy. HARDCORE @ VOLCANO this option is the most demanding. We would cover all the spots from previous options and on top of that we will visit current eruption site @ Fagradalsfjall to see active volcano squirting molten lava. Tour would last around 11hrs and it's the most challenging when we speak about time to exercise ratio. However so far all our guests at the end of this route were tired but very happy they decided to go with it This is not going to be a normal tour.

Reykjanes Peninsula is located along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates are constantly drifting apart about 2 cm (1 inch) per year. That is the reason why the peninsula is highly volcanically active and small earthquakes are not rare. During the Middle Age, several eruptions occurred in Reykjanes Peninsula ; Since 2020 there has been 6 volcanic eruptions so you can never write off seeing some hot lava.

The Reykjanes peninsula tour begins in Reykjavík or at the Keflavik airport. Our very first stop will be Kleifarvatn lake, the largest lake on the peninsula. Our second stop is the geothermal springs of Krýsuvík, located on the middle of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The fishing town of Grindavík is our next stop. Brimketill lava rock pool is next up, a little pool right on the edge of land. Next is Gunnuhver, hot spring with a boiling water and mud pools. Close by is the Reykjanes lighthouse, Iceland’s very first lighthouse, built in 1878 but destroyed by an earthquake eight years later. Right by the tower are Valahnúkar and Valahnúkamöl which are unique cliffs and rocks made out of some of the oldest lava on the peninsula. The next stop is where the European and the North American plates meet and form the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Sandvík, a beautiful beach with almost entirely black sands, is our next stop. The one and only Blue Lagoon will be our final destination.

Please note that entrance to the pool area is not included in this tour. The driving time during the tour is around 3 hours.
