We paddle through the Honey Island Swamp and circle through large cypress trees with one of the trees being on the National Registry. Mead and Honey Tasting Experience


We are currently the only meadery in the Hunter Region. There are less than 30 meaderies in all of Australia, with only a fraction of them having cellar doors for tastings. There are few opportunities to taste mead while being guided by the mead maker.

The tour starts from our company and continues on foot for a visit to our beehives in the field. A passage to the millenary olive tree of Macciano is a must even if we are talking about honey … Upon returning to the company we will illustrate the process of honey production and extraction and then finally … the tasting of our honey.

You will experience our honey bees up close and get to know the Ligustica bee breed, which originated in Italy. You will learn how to bee-keep in a particularly bee-friendly and natural way with the "large-capacity hive" typical of Italy. You will have the opportunity to taste real beekeeping honey and fresh pollen and you can ask all your questions about bees and honey.


Beekeeping experience " Areti Honey "


It would be a pleasure for us to share our knowledge, expertise and love for the bees that we come to develop over the years. Our guest will get an original and step by step experience of extracting Rhodes Honey. In detail, visitors coming to our workshop will be greeted with a cup of Greek coffee while we explain to them the activities we will do in the tour. They will have the option to taste test our fresh honey that we produce each period of the year. Guest will see how honey is extracted and the process from production to the hive in the jar, step by step. After the tour inside our workshop we will walk guests in the beautiful forest of Archipolis where our destination will be our apiary. While we get to the apiary, Areti will share information on beekeeping plants you see on they way there. The tour of the apiary will be seen from a safe distance, and the visitors will get to wear beekeeping suits.

Your adventure begins in Odou village, where you'll dive into the sweet world of honey. After a short lesson in the art of production & the chance to taste fresh harvested 'liquid-gold', you'll continue to Lefkara, a village famed for its handmade lace and embroidery. Here, there'll be a short walking tour and some free time to explore. For lunchtime you'll make your way to Skarinou, where you'll tuck into a traditional meal at a family restaurant – prepared with locally-sourced ingredients. You'll round off in Choirokoitia, where you'll meet Petros – a local resident with a passion for basket weaving. Sit back with a typical Cypriot coffee and watch him demonstrate his skills, ending the tour with a memorable touch.
