Colonial Flintlock Musket Experience


The experience starts with a hands-on overview of the firearm technology in the American colonial era. Your instructor has 35+ years experience in building, collecting, restoring, and using historic weapons. You will learn not only what typical small arms of the 18th century were like, but also why they were designed the way they were, what they were capable of and what they were not capable of. After a safety orientation, we'll walk out to our rustic shooting range where you'll get to learn the basics of how to load a colonial-style flintlock musket like the militia did over two centuries ago, then see how accurately you can fire it by shooting at a target. Group size is limited to four.


Colonial Tegucigalpa


Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras is a mix of colonial historical heritage and modernism of a contemporary metropolitan city. Despite its Spanish origins, it does not have the traditional square design of the streets surrounding the central square. Officially founded on September 29, 1578 under the name of Real de Minas de San Miguel de Tegucigalpa, it was not until 3 centuries later, on October 30, 1880, that it became the capital of the country. The city of Tegucigalpa has a wide variety of interesting places to visit, among them are cultural, historical, ecological, recreational and fun sites.

This half-day tour visits both the colonial and modern sections of Lima. Colonial sites include the lovely Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, San Francisco Church and the exquisite Torre Tagle Palace modern day seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visit the Museum of the Banco Central de Reserva, where you will admire the “Treasures of Peru” Collection. Visit the San Francisco Convent and its underground vaults, known as "catacumbas" or catacombs. In modern Lima, drive along the exclusive residential areas of Miraflores and San Isidro. Enjoy a panoramic view of “Pucllana Pyramid” a magnificent ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century A.D.
