Piedras Rojas + Altiplanic Lagoons and Salar de Atacama


Toconao (Kunza Rincón perdido) enchants for its simplicity, calm of its people, special climate, beautiful architecture and crafts; We will visit the marginal area of the Salar de Atacama known as Laguna Chaxa located in Sector Soncor R.N.L. F. Later we headed towards the South East (Cordillera de los Andes) to settle in a Socaire Altiplanic Town, we visited its Church and learned about its agriculture. Once installed in the cordon of the Andes we headed approx. At 4200 masl to meet the Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons. These lagoons belong to the R. N. Los F., characterized by volcanoes and mountainous reliefs such as the Miscanti hill and the Meñiques volcano. Both lagoons are born from groundwater from melting ice. Continuing along the slopes of the South Andes we head to the Salar de Talar Touristically known as Piedras Rojas, where the rocks are subjected to natural oxidation and weathering.

Altiplanic Lagoons & Piedras Rojas Tour from San Pedro de Atacama


We will begin this excursion having breakfast in the Tambillo forest, a particular forest of a tree called Tamarugo that grows in the middle of the desert. Then we will visit the Chaxa lagoon, located in the Salar de Atacama, a lagoon of spectacular beauty that is divided into several mirrors of water, where a large number of flamingos live. Then we will go through the towns of Toconao and Socaire, towns built with stone of volcanic origin. for later arrive at Los Flamencos National Reserve, where we will visit the altiplanic lagoons, two lagoons over 4,000 meters high at the foot of two large volcanoes, and finally the Salar de Aguas Calientes, a salt flat with beautiful contrasts of turquoise and calypso colors, and next to the Piedras Rojas viewpoint, a stone platform that owes its name to its reddish color product of iron oxidation.

Laguna Cejar


On this tour we will visit a series of lagoons inside the Salar de Atacama, the largest salt flat in Chile. Our first stop will be at the famous Lagoa Cejar and Lagoa Piedra, surrounded by green and yellow grass that enhances the color of the water, contemplating the unique landscape of turquoise waters and volcanoes. In Lagoa Piedra we will have the possibility to take a bath and experience the Flotation Effect, similar to the Dead Sea.


Geyser Del Tatio


Geysers are formations that usually exist in volcanic regions. They are like small volcanoes that erupt with water, expelled through a crevasse. The water that comes out of the geysers is very hot and, when in contact with the air, generates steam, which is even more evident when the air is cold.

Piedras Rojas and Altiplanic Tour


We'll start the tour with a visit to the pre-Hispanic town of Socaire, characterized by its cultivated terraces. Then we'll head to the Altiplano, where we'll visit Laguna Miscanti and Laguna Miñiques, habitat for aquatic birds and mammals such as red foxes and vicuñas. We will continue to the Salar de Talar (also known as Salar de Águas Calientes) and the Piedras Rojas viewpoint, from where we will see these reddish volcanic stones that will surprise you with their shape and the exceptional natural environment where they are located. The tour continues to Salar de Atacama, the largest in Chile and the third largest in the world. There, we will walk along the paths of Laguna Chaxa, nesting place and habitat of the three species of flamingos present in Chile: Andean, Chilean and James. Finally, we will visit the village of Toconao, its Church of San Lucas and its characteristic orchards.


4-Days Discovery at San Pedro de Atacama


Come to Atacama, the driest desert in the world and discover this mystical place, its stunning beauty and natural wonders. Puritama Hot Springs


On this visit, we'll enjoy a bath to replenish our energy in the Puritama Hot Springs, located 30 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama. Its waters are born in the Andes Mountains and reach high temperatures because of the proximity to volcanic materials. Afterwards, we go to the surface on the Puritama River, creating eight natural pools, surrounded by hills and native vegetation. The place has changing rooms, bathrooms and terraces in each of the pools. The average temperature of the thermal waters is 33 °C.


Baltinache Hidden Waters


Who could have imagined that in a desert it is possible to find so much water and such beautiful places? The region of Hiddens Laggons (Lagunas Escondidas) de Baltinache is a true oasis. A majestic setting rich in colors, sensations and of course – water. Altogether there are seven incredibly transparent saltwater lagoons. Needless to say, it is practically impossible to sink there, as the salinity of the water is very high. The Hidden Lagoons are located at an altitude of 2,400 meters and temperatures range from 5ºC to 30ºC. The route is all demarcated by stones, the objective is to preserve open nature, so that other people can also enjoy the beauties of the place. Nothing more fair, right?
