Each year, several marine mammals, including humpback whales, migrate to the Pacific Ocean and especially to French Polynesia. This year the approach rules limit the number of people in the water to preserve and respect animals. The maximum number allowed in the water is 7 including the guide. We will organize 2 groups. Our guide only permits the release of animals when it is determined that weather conditions and animal behaviour are favourable. This activity can be quite physically demanding and requires knowledge of swimming and effective use of snorkeling, fins, mask and snorkelling equipment. People with motion sickness can be sick at sea. We advise you to take precautions before the tour.

Our tours are 3 to 4 hours long and will allow us to observe and swim with humpback whales and any other animals present at the time.

During this excursion we sometimes also happen to see spinner dolphins, pilot whales and pelagic sharks. French Polynesia is one of the few destinations in the world where it is still possible to swim with cetaceans and have the opportunity to observe them underwater. Join us and have the experience of your life! On our return to the lagoon, we will also stop to swim with stingrays and black tip sharks. This activity takes place on a shallow sandbank of the lagoon where you can stand as the water is only waist-chest high. It is accessible to all ages without any particular physical shape needed. This Sumbawa Whale Shark Tour Package is designed for those of you who enjoy interacting with one of the largest living creatures in the ocean. Whale sharks located in the Saleh Bay area, Sumbawa are easier to find at 6 am when fishermen using bagang boats lift their nets at that time. Usually a group of Whale Sharks will appear because along with the nets being lifted, a lot of plankton appear which are favored by these Whale Sharks.

During the months of July-November, the southern hemisphere population of humpback whales commences their winter migration with a portion of the population choosing the islands of French Polynesia as their destination. French Polynesia remains one of the few locations in the world where we are able to enter the water with humpback whales to observe them directly. Our priority lies both to guest safety and to respect of all wildlife we encounter during our tours. We will only enter the water with humpback whales after the biologist on board has observed their surface activity and deemed it safe and non-invasive for both the guests and the whales.
