The manor house in Svätý Jur, a town near the present Slovak capital of Bratislava, came into the possession of the influential noble Pálffy family in the late 1500s. Svätý Jur was known to produce the best wines in the greater Bratislava region and played an important role in the growing, production and wine trade.
