Sleigh Ride

A perfect family exursion! Experience the nature and silence surrounded by snow-clad mountains in the valley of Mathisdalen and come join our family at Omdal farm. The sleigh is drawn by the horse breed known from the Disney movie "Frozen". The sheep you will meet, have the opportunity to be outside all year long, and in the summertime they lives side by side to the reindeer up in the mountains. After the ride, you can warm up in our Sami tent, called a lavvo, where we serve coffee/tea/pastry/cured meats.

This tour has 3 options: BEGINNER (EASY): about 2 km (15 min) length sections on sleigh (either sitting or standing next to the mushers) with 8-10 dogs pulling Can be booked with a minimum of 10 people MEDIUM: 8 – 10 km (~1.5h) section on light terrain, with 8-10 dogs pulling It can be booked for min 2 people, max 6 EXTREME: 20 – 25km ( it's a full day's schedule, meal included) -with 8 – 10dogs pulling, with 2 escorts, both front and behind Can be organized for min 2 people. Not for overweight people.

This is because our Northern Lights spotting place is the best possible place in Rovaniemi area where are no other lights at all, northern sky is fully open and the weather is often clear even if it is cloudy or foggy in the town. By our long experience the right hours to be out there is 11-12 PM. Anyway you need some luck to see the lights and it is unpredictable even during the trip! Great surprises happen! On this tour you reach the more distant spots what you can't reach on foot! You will sit as a passenger on a sleigh puled by guide snowmobile.

Instead of bells the dogs’ barking will jingle, while they enthusiastically follow the trail through the crude, white-clad Lapland forests. It’s really fantastic, a dream come true.
