We start with a stop in the village of Ponta do Sol. Take a short walk to the island's old port. This structure was essential for the transport of people and goods before the industrial revolution. Then we climb through banana plantations and eucalyptus forests to Paul da Serra. An essential zone for retaining rainwater, feeding the aquifers and the abundant springs & fountains on the northern slope. The descent along a mountain ridge allows you to witness the shades of green between the northern and southern slopes. A dirt and stone road takes you down to the most western point and the lighthouse. Down at sea level we pass through tunnels carved into the rock. Have your camera to hand, as the landscape is breathtaking! In the village of Paul do Mar, you can sample some local delicacies, such as limpets, octopus and swordfish.
