Wieliczka Salt Mine, a Material Culture World Heritage Site, attracts over 1 million visitors every year and is among the most eagerly visited tourist sites in Poland. The tour includes hotel pick-up and skip-the-line tickets. The driver will pick you up directly from your hotel or apartment in Krakow and drive you to Wieliczka. After a short walk, you will join an English-speaking tour with the official guide provided by the museum. After the tour, the driver will drop you off at your accommodation. Tickets are included, so you do not need to worry about standing in lines to buy tickets.

The historic Salt Mine is located about 10 km from Krakow and is on the first UNESCO World Heritage List (1978). The current mine was established ad the turn off 18 and 19 century (though mining history reaches antiquity here). The tourist route goes through the most interesting places in the mine that consists of 22 chambers which are connected by salt pathways of lenght about 3 km. Chambers are located at depth 64 to 135 meters underground.

Potosí, at over 4,000 meters, is one of the highest cities in the world. But even an elevation as high as, this does not stop the nearby Cerro Potosí from dominating the surrounding landscape. Potosí was founded as a mining town in 1546 by the Spaniards. Over the next 200 years, more than 40,000 tons of silver were shipped out of the town, making the Spanish Empire one of the richest the world had ever seen. Millions of the indigenous people were forced to work at the mines in the extraction process. In 1672, Potosí became one of the richest cities in the world. To this day, workers extract minerals from the mine and it’s possible to take an amazing tour inside and to appreciate their life style.

The tour begins with the pick up from the hotel and then make a journey of 1 hour and 20 minutes to our first place of visit, during the journey we will appreciate snow-capped mountains, lagoons, corn and potato fields. The first place Moray (agricultural laboratory) where we can appreciate Andean terraces in circular form and that are carved in the depths of the earth, in the form of a bowl, were used to adapt products to different climates. After the visit to Moray we will go to “Salineras” or “salt of Maras”, this town is formerly known as a salt producing center and is believed to date from pre-Inca times. We can find more than 3500 salt beds strategically carved next to the mountain and that are filled by water channels. Already back to the city of Cusco we will pass through a picturesque village “Chinchero” cradle of the rainbow, this town is characterized by the fact that the Andean textile technique is still preserved.

Two of the most important tourist centers in the city of Cusco are Maras and Moray. In these places, you can appreciate parts of our ancient culture through its different stages, including pre-Inca, Inca, colonial, and republican periods. During the tour, we will visit the Salt Mines or Salineras, which consist of approximately 2,000 small pools fed by a salty spring that flows from the mountain. We will also explore the Moray Archaeological Complex, a unique archaeological site in the region. It consists of giant natural depressions that were used by the Incas, who built agricultural terraces or platforms with irrigation channels, essentially creating a prototype of a greenhouse.

We leave for the Magic Town Tlalpujahua located in the State of Michoacán, where we will enter the Dos Estrellas mine and discover the greatness of the mine. Leaving the mine we went to the main church of Tlalpujahua, built in 1770, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, a name given to it after the tragedy of the lamas, in 1937, when the image of this Virgin remained intact, being Devastated part of the town by the toxic mud from the mines. Later we will visit a workshop of Christmas ornamental spheres, very typical of the region and which are all hand-painted, exported to the world. During the visit to the Workshop you will learn about the process of making the spheres. We continue to another of the Pueblos Mágicos el Oro located in the State of Mexico, its buildings reflect all the European styles of the time such as the Juárez Theater and the Neoclassical Municipal Palace.

Pickup from Guanajuato City Only: Guanajuato is a colonial gem sitting in a valley northwest of Mexico City. The city has been named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The architecture of this gorgeous city was built using the great wealth generated from the silver mines during the 17th and 18th centuries; during this period, Guanajuato was the source for 1/3 of the world’s silver. You will also discover the labyrinth of tunnels beneath the city as well as the Haciendas and Mines outside of the City Center. . Today, you can see Guanajuato in its preserved beauty.
