Salt Mines of Maras & Moray


Two of the most important tourist centers in the city of Cusco are Maras and Moray. In these places, you can appreciate parts of our ancient culture through its different stages, including pre-Inca, Inca, colonial, and republican periods. During the tour, we will visit the Salt Mines or Salineras, which consist of approximately 2,000 small pools fed by a salty spring that flows from the mountain. We will also explore the Moray Archaeological Complex, a unique archaeological site in the region. It consists of giant natural depressions that were used by the Incas, who built agricultural terraces or platforms with irrigation channels, essentially creating a prototype of a greenhouse.

Wieliczka Salt Mine is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It illustrates the historic stages of the development of mining techniques in Europe from the 13th to the 20th centuries. It has hundreds of kilometers of galleries with works of art, underground chapels and statues sculpted in the salt, making a fascinating pilgrimage into the past. Active Mine – Potosi Half Day


The mines visited are located at the base of the historical Rich Hill of Potosi. Inside, appreciate the system of miners´ work that has not suffered great changes after so much time of exploitation. Touring the different galleries and interior levels of the mines, visitors can meet some places where the miners built statues that represent to their gods as The Uncle of the Mine (the devil). Visitors also can see the mineral veins that are a group of rocks and chemical formations of minerals, chimneys, apart from having an experiential sharing time with the miners and observing the different work methods that they carry out every day.


Wieliczka Salt Mine with Hotel Pickup


Wieliczka is famous not only in Poland, but also in the world thanks to the beautiful salt mine, which is visited by over 1 million tourists every year. The city has been known as the mining center of this resource since the thirteenth century and the mine was founded in the name of St. Kinga. The mine is a labyrinth of 300 km underground sidewalks. It is a valuable monument of material culture and technical thinking. The visit to the mine takes approximately 2.5 hours. The travel time from Krakow to Wieliczka takes about 30 minutes.
