During your Sapporo cooking class, cook alongside a professional culinary instructor, Shiori. She will expertly walk you through every step of creating a great Japanese dish. The cooking portion of your experience will last about 1 hour, during which you will learn to make 1 main dish and 1 side dish. Shiori will peel and cut vegetables in advance and you will help her prepare the dishes together. Your meal may include dishes such as a handmade sushi roll, somen noodles, grilled chicken and vegetables or nimono of fish cakes and vegetables. Shiori enjoys teaching the art of creating delightful food using fresh, inexpensive produce that is easy to replicate back home. She is also happy to recommend the best ingredients and snacks at local supermarkets to take home with you!

'Dango noodle soup' is made by kneading wheat flour (or rice flour) with water, letting it rest for a while, then stretching and tearing the dough by hand before adding it to the soup. It's a hearty, wholesome dish made with local, seasonal vegetables such as 'taro' potato and burdock, then seasoned with miso or soy sauce. This is the only cooking class available in Beppu hosted within a century-old Japanese house – a truly 'local' experience!

Chieko is a certified cooking instructor who was born and raised on Shikoku Island and then lived in Kyoto, Osaka and Los Angeles, before moving to Tokyo. Machiya architecture follows a certain format, and how each house pursued beauty within that format is quite different. Our townhouse was formerly run as an obstetrics and gynecology clinic. The combination of the main house and the clinic is very unique, and the strange harmony of the two is very beautiful. Our service includes experiencing Japanese traditional tea ceremony, playing Japanese Koto (a Japanese harp) music, trying on Japanese traditional outfit, cotton Kimono ( Ninja costume is also available!! ), and cooking Japanese cuisine, Hiroshima style Japanese cabbage pancake (Okonomiyaki) , or rolled vegetables sushi. Cooking , basically prepared Okonomiyaki with pork. I can arrange pork to shrimp. If you don’t want pork, please request shrimp in advance. If you want to cook Norimaki rolls ( Rolled sushi) This is tasty and healthy dish, also suitable for vegan and any religious people . If you don’t have food restrictions, I can include fish for a more diverse experience. Please let me know your cooking choice in advance.

After end of the photo shooting, you can either go back to the rental shop or go on your own journey with on Kimono until 5pm (the shop closes at 5 pm).
