A tour to the Mukuni Village is a 3 hour eye-opening, educational and inspiring activity. With a population of about 5000, Mukuni is a real village with real Leya people living their lives. During the tour, you will learn about their livelihoods, culture, and see Chief Mukuni's Palace. You can also pre-arrange to have a taste of the traditional food and beer. The departure time for this daily cultural activity is as requested. Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel.

Livingstone Town Tour


History lovers will find Livingstone alive. Many buildings from the first decade of the century are still in use. It was one of the first white settlements in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) and for quite a while it was the only urban center in the territory and the gateway to the north. The town has preserved much of its colonial character, but is a typical African town with a busy charm. Livingstone receives guests from all over the world, who want to enjoy the world wonder, as well as the many exciting activities that both side of the Fall have to offer. There is absolutely no end to amazements on the offing for to many pens in words. Rich in scenery and heritage, Livingstone today has become the tourist heart of Zambia. Cultural Tour of Livingstone (Half Day)


The tour begins at Mukuni village, where you we look at the culture of the Toka Leya people and understand their day to day activities. From Mukuni Village we will proceed to the Railway and Jewish Museum in Livingstone, here we will learn of the steam locomotives that were used in the colonial times to move goods and people from one place to the other. We will also have a look at the first Jewish settlers of Livingstone. From the Jewish Museum we will proceed to have lunch at a local restraint that serves the Zambian cuisine. After lunch we will immediately head to the Livingstone Museum where we will learn the history of Livingstone and Zambia at large from the pre-colonial times to modern Zambia as we know we it. From the museum we will visit Maramba market in order to have an experience at the local market.


Mukuni Traditional Village Tour


Chief Mukuni invites visitors to his village, home to the Leya people. This is a unique opportunity to see how the local people live in a working village, not one built for tourists. A member of the village will show you around and you can see how traditional huts are built and decorated. Take a look inside, meet the residents and see the locals at work.e. Dr David Livingstone visited this village on more than one occasion, sitting under a giant mango tree in the middle of the square, to meet with the current chief. As the Chief viewed David Livingstone as an unbeliever, he was not allowed into the chief’s compound. It was also two men from this village, long time retainers of David Livingstone, who carried his body all the way to the coast after he died near Lake Bangweulu. The descendants of these men still live in the village.
