The UTAGE LIVE SHOW will not only feature familiar Japanese instruments such as taiko, shamisen, shakuhachi and shinobue, but also one of the largest and most powerful giant Japanese drums in the Kansai region (180 cm in diameter), which will not only perform but also enliven the audience with a variety of performances and visual elements. Guests will be invited on stage to experience the performance of the Japanese instruments and will also have the opportunity to participate in one of the songs in the show. Besides showing the landmarks like Kaminarimon Gate and Tokyo Skytree, Ryo will accompany you to many lovely temples and shrines around the area. Asakusa is a distinctive place to have both a Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine next to each other. You will also be able to know more about the religious views among Japanese people. Finally, Ryo will take you to Nakamise Shopping Street, where he will explain the origin of Senso-ji Temple while showing various illustrations. Also, he will tell you how the temple has been loved and supported by a variety of people, from locals to the generals of different periods. The host, Ryo has 6 years of experience working in Asakusa as a rickshaw driver and is passionate about introducing Japanese culture and history through the exploration of Asakusa. Hello, I'm your guide, Grace, a mother of two kids in my mid 40's. I have been in Chiba for about 18 years. I love this city, and I also love Japanese culture! I traveled a lot and had many wonderful experiences interacting with the local people and experiencing the culture. The reason I started this job is because I want everyone who travels to Japan to have the same wonderful experiences that I had. There are many attractive places to visit in Chiba City and you can experience Japanese traditional and local culture. First of all, We will go to Chiba Shrine which is beautiful and quiet place familiar to citizens from the past. Then, we will pass through Chiba Castle. You can also take impressive photos at this places. We will stop by Chiba art museum which is A century-old Neo-Renaissance structure, and Visitors can view works of art by artists associated with Chiba City. After that, we'll have lunch at Kadoya, a Japanese homemade style restaurant and enjoy, Tonkatsu or Chiken.

Come join our tour to learn about the history of the Japanese American community in Portland and how it has helped shape the unique culture of our city! This 1.2-mile walking tour through Waterfront Park and parts of NW Portland’s historic Japantown explores the history of the Japanese immigration to the region, the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, and present-day cultural ties between Portland and Japan.

Hands-on cooking classes will be held at our Japanese cuisine restaurant "Tokitarazu" in Hiroo, which is an upscale residential area in Tokyo. Our instructor, who has mastery of Kaiseki cuisine, will guide you step by step how to make the dishes and decorate the plates. Specifically, you will learn, e.g., how to make Dashi (soup stock), how to cook rice, and how to use cooking utensils and prepare ingredients, so even beginner chefs can have a great time!  You will also enjoy sake tasting. The class will be held in English and/or Japanese.

The class is held at the over 130 years old house. It was built in Machiya style and was used to be a house of Shoya, the biggest merchant in the city at that time. You can have a look around the unique inside. We will show you traditional life style such as Koto, a Japanese harp and an old sawing machine, which have been carefully stored for a long time in Kura, an old style storage in back of the house. The kitchen is made of Sake barrel lids came from a local brewery. It’s located on the second floor, you will see the beautiful Japanese garden. We provide aprons, so you don’t need to bring anything. We will give you a recipe that you can cook at your country. The class consists of some basics of Japanese cooking, such as how to make Dashi broth, and introduction of local made ingredients, which are not normally seen at regular supermarkets. We will explain for you to cook at home when you go back. Recipes are adjustable for vegetarians and vegans.

Gifu City is famous for its scenic Gifu Castle and cormorant fishing. It is a place where good old Japanese scenery still remains. You can experience how to handle a Japanese sword and try your hand at swordsmanship. You can also experience Japanese jujutsu.

Kawagoe is the perfect escape from Tokyo's bustling modernity: in fact, even though many foreign tourists don't know about it, Kawagoe is so rich in heritage and tradition and it deserves a full day to be visited. First, we will visit Kita Temple, a remarkable complex as it shows a two-storied pagoda, together with some parts of the old Edo Castle. Next, we will walk along Taisho Roman Yume Dori, a short yet interesting street, leading to Kawagoe's main attraction, Kura no Machi: we will walk along the beautiful warehouses before moving on to the symbol of the city, Toki no kane: a tower bell that overlooks the central part of town. From there we will move to Kashiya Yokocho, an alley where traditional candy shops are located. At the end of the tour, if you chose one of the option, you will be introduced to a rickshaw rider or a Kimono rental shop: you will be free to explore more of Kawagoe, go back to Tokyo, visit the close Sayama city or move to Omiya and catch a Shinkansen train.
