What makes this class special; – Our experienced shodo teacher will teach you step by step, so don't worry if you've never tried it before! (don't panic!…a part of shodo ritual is practicing one's patience too ) – You'll be accompanied by a English-Japanese or Chinese-Japanese translator, so you can fully understand the class and ask questions if there is any. – This class will be hold in our Japanese tea room with beautiful tatami floor. – This class will be only for max. 3 people, which makes your experience more personal. – You can sign up for his class with your family or friends and make it into a private class for no extra charge. – Our stuff will take pictures during and after the class by your phone or camera. – You can take XX of your work from the class. – You'll get beautiful bamboo holder to take your work home for FREE!

Beyond calligraphy, you can also catch a glimpse of the Japanese lifestyle. The lesson is held at the instructor's house, so you can see where and how Japanese people live! If you are curious about the Japanese lifestyle and culture, this is a great chance. You can bring back the fan or colored paper you make! Once you have written your character or word on the fan or colored paper, you can bring it back home with you as a only one souvenir in the world!!

Japanese calligraphy is the essence of traditional Japanese culture. Why not try your hand at this art? “Shodo,” or Japanese calligraphy, is artistically written words that are written in a style that is both artistic and emotionally driven. The art of calligraphy was handed down from China during the 6th and 7th centuries, at which time the Japanese learned how to make brushes, ink, and paper. Soon after its introduction, it became an indispensable skill for educated nobles and samurai, the leaders of Japan. Over time, the appreciation spread to the general public. Now, it can be found not only as works of art but also in things such as New Year's cards and other special occasion writings. This art form is now a part of Japanese culture.

Enjoy the calligraphy experience of traditional Japanese culture. With 25 years of experience as a calligraphy instructor, I will provide you with easy-to-understand and detailed instruction. We will talk about Japanese letters, explain how to use calligraphy tools, and teach you the basics of how to use a brush. Then, students choose one of the 12 kanji that are popular overseas, practice it, and write it on a Japanese board. Sign your name, place it in a special art frame, and your original work of art is complete. You can take it home, so please display it at home. At the end, enjoy green tea and Japanese sweets, and take a commemorative photo. It will be a wonderful memory for you. The event will be held on the first floor of a hotel in Shinsaibashi, the center of Osaka. It's very convenient, just 1 minute walk from the subway station.

This calligraphy workshop focuses on creating text related to the surrounding hot spring region of Beppu. Participants can learn how to write words such as '温泉' – 'onsen' (meaning 'hot spring') and '地獄' – 'jigoku' (meaning 'hell'), under the guidance of a friendly local instructor. As well as being able to take your one-of-a-kind masterpiece home with you, this is also a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the charm of traditional Japanese culture, learning not only technique but also Japanese calligraphy etiquette.

Activity take place in 300-year-old Zen temple. Being away from the tourist spot, this place is really quiet and relaxing. Calligraphy has imported to Japan during 6C from China. Learn to draw the line with brush. Check the sample carefully to copy the Chinese charactor. We will ask your name so that we can prepare your name in Japanese Phonetics. Practice your name in Japanese. Write your letter on the rice scoop. Rice scoop(shamoji) is lucky item in Miyajima. Bring back the good luck with you! You can take pictures as much as you want while you are in here, and we will take pictures of you doing the lessons. You can take pictures in our Japanese garden, too. Our lesson is very good introduction to the Japanese authentic cultures. Wearing kimono make it even more special that could be the highlight of your trip.

This calligraphy workshop takes place in a peaceful location surrounded by the Takase and Kamo rivers in Kyoto, allowing you to enjoy a great time while immersing yourself in the beauty of calligraphy. With a small group setting, each participant will receive personalized instruction, making it easy for beginners to feel comfortable and relaxed while learning. The instructor will guide you step by step, teaching you the correct brush strokes to create beautiful Kanji characters. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to watch a demonstration by the professional calligraphy instructor up close and experience her brush techniques firsthand. At the end of the workshop, participants who wish to may also have the opportunity to purchase the instructor's artwork. You will leave with your own unique calligraphy piece, feeling a sense of accomplishment and taking home a personal memento of your experience.

Find Peace of Mind and Spirit at Saisho-ji Temple Begin your experience by offering a coin and practicing seated meditation to quiet your thoughts. Then, express your gratitude to the Buddha through a traditional burning of incense. The highlight of the experience is shakyo—the meditative practice of hand-copying Buddhist scripture. Refresh yourself with a cup of Japanese green tea as you slowly and mindfully trace each character with a brush, embracing a moment of inner tranquility. To complete the ritual, gently pass your calligraphy sheet through incense smoke— purifying the writing and symbolizing a step closer to the world of Buddha. Finally, capture the memory of the experience with a polaroid photo (cheki) and a traditional temple stamp (goshuin) to take with you as a spiritual souvenir of your journey!

It is even rare for Japanese people to learn how to write the Japanese letters (Kanji) by a certificated master calligrapher. However, we want you to experience it casually and enjoy it!! You do not need to have any knowledge about it. The place for workshop is in a Japanese restaurant, so you can feel Japanese atmosphere while the activity!! The teacher (Sensei) is really friendly, so you can try calligraphy casually!! We will make the model of letter before you start to write or anytime during the workshop. Also, if you do not know any Japanese words, you can ask us and we will translate to Japanese words!! We can even make your Japanese name too!!
