Wombeyan Caves: Fig Tree Cave Tour


This is a self-guides tour. The limestone in the caves of Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is 430 million years old. The geological processes that have created the magnificent cave system you see today continue to work their magic. You'll notice the impressive cave decorations, including stalactites and stalagmites, that are created by the infiltration of water into the caves. • Parking is available at Kui Kiosk and need to leave the cave by 4.15pm. • The cave is accessed by a token, a 15min walk from the visitor centre. Ticket holders will need to collect a token from the visitor centre before heading to the cave entrance. • There is a steep, 500m gravel path to the cave entrance. • The ground in the cave can be slippery, so please take care. • The temperature in the cave is approximately 15˚C all year round. • Food is not permitted inside the cave. • The cave is not suitable for prams. • Please use the public amenities at the visitor centre as there are no toilets near the caves.


Wombeyan Caves: Mulwaree Cave tour

Please note: • There is a moderately steep, 500m gravel path to the cave entrance. Allow 15 minutes to walk from the carpark to the meeting point. • The ground in the cave can be slippery, so please take care. • The temperature in the cave is approximately 15˚C all year round. • Food is not permitted inside the cave. • The cave is not suitable for prams. • Please use the public amenities at the visitor centre.


Wombeyan Caves: Kooringa Cave Guided Tour


The ornately decorated Kooringa Cave in Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is sure to impress. Bring your camera to capture striking columns and rippled draperies on a guided tour through this single-chamber cave. The limestone in the caves of Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is 430 million years old. The geological processes that have created the magnificent cave system you see today continue to work their magic. You'll notice the impressive cave decorations, including stalactites and stalagmites, that are created by the infiltration of water into the caves. Grading: Medium. Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. A moderate level of fitness is required for this tour. There is steep entrance with short ladders, a narrow chamber and 200 steps inside the cave.


Yarrangobilly Caves: South Glory Cave Self-Guided Tour


This tour is self-guided. Yarrangobilly’s karst landscapes were created from a belt of limestone laid down about 440 million years ago. Almost all cave formations can be seen here, from stalactites and stalagmites, hollow straws and delicate helictites, to shawls, cave coral, and massive flowstones. Karst environments are nature’s time capsules, preserving evidence of climate change, floods, droughts, fires, animal and human activity. What to bring: Sturdy shoes, suitable clothing. Please note: The cave entrance is inside Glory Arch. Access is via a 500m gravel track starting at Glory Cave carpark. The self-guided tour exits a few metres from the carpark. It’s a good idea to bring a jacket – the average temperature in this cave is 10˚C and it's usually damp. Getting there: South Glory Cave is in the Yarrangobilly area of Kosciuszko National Park, between Tumut and Cooma. Parking: Parking is available at Glory Cave carpark, From here, it’s a 500m walk to the cave entrance.
