Our tour is planned by a team of gastronomy lovers. The team developed a complete platform where what we are looking for is that any lover of food and unique culinary experiences enjoy the culinary heritage of Mexico to the fullest. We planned this experience with two years of research, if you take this experience you will meet people who preserve the gastronomic culture of Oaxaca, the vendors always offer us a unique experience of living the flavors in an incomparable way, because the producers themselves will talk to us and share with us of his wisdom.

This is a project run by Betsaida, Zapotec woman, born & raised in Oaxaca. This project started 6 years ago with the simple desire to share to the world, the beauty & cultural richness of Oaxaca. We’re not only proud of our roots, but also deeply committed to support the local consumption. From farmers, artisans, cooks, market vendors & more in order to promote a sustainable tourism. Therefore, once you join us in our experiences you’ll live and participate to the preservation of our culture, which is our main focus. As consequence, Me Encanta Oaxaca is a phrase that expresses how passionate we are, and we believe that once you live Oaxaca, it’ll cast a spell on you.

We will get to know Oaxaca, culture, history, art and gastronomy. We take a tour with a professional team, we will visit 5 special places in Oaxaca. The first is the wonderful archaeological area of Monte Alban where we take a 2-hour hike with a certified guide. The second place to know is the house – workshop of a wood carving artisan or Alebrijes in San Martin Tilcajete. Third place is to eat at a local traditional food buffet restaurant. The fourth place is the house – workshop of a hip or waist loom craftsman in Santo Tomas Jalieza. The fifth and final place to visit is the house – workshop of a master black mud craftsman in San Bartolo Coyotepec.

You have two hours to explore, take pictures and learn about the majestic natural pools that seem to have been frozen in time. After visiting Hierve el Agua, we will go to a traditional smoke kitchen, where you will taste a delicious Oaxacan lunch. A real feast for your taste buds! We will visiting Teotitlan del Valle, a Zapotec town of weavers that use ancestral techniques to dye lamb wool and make fantastic rugs with incredible self-made designs. After we will stop a Mezcal factory. Our exciting tour ends around 3:00 p.m. when we drop you off at your hotel or Airbnb with unforgettable memories and new friends. You will then have the rest of the afternoon for other activities.

Once you get there, you will feel as if you have crossed a portal to a magical world of alebrijes. These creatures that are carved out of wood are hand-painted and full of vibrant colors. They are the soul of Oaxacan handcrafts. After learning about the elaboration process of these fantastic figures and with the help of a master craftsman, you will be able to paint your own alebrije! You will be given a small figure, a paintbrush and paint. It is your moment to decorate your own chosen piece. Immerse yourself in the colors and let your imagination run free. The tour ends around 2:00 p.m. when we drop you off at your hotel or Airbnb. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty since paint can get splattered on you.
