Founded by 9 x South African Surfing Champion Roxy Davis, we are renowned not only for the quality of our equipment and coaching, but even more for the overall sense of community. Our surf school in Famara was established in 2010 and, since 2014, every year we have been awarded with the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence! All Catman Surf School lessons start on the sand with ocean awareness and safety. We’ll go over the basics on how to position yourself on the board, paddling, and how to pop up. Afterwards, we’ll transition to the surf, followed by your first go at small white water waves. Your safety always come first, and Sergio will be by your side every step of the way. Once in the water, he’ll show you how to read the waves, position your take off, and the etiquette of wave riding. His private lessons are built to make your adventure on the waves one to remember. The basic course is aimed at all those who have never tried before and at the same time for those who have already had a very short experience of a few days and want to improve the bases necessary to move to the next level. The requirements are: being in good general health, knowing how to swim and a minimum age of 6 years. The aim of the course is to surf the first foam waves independently and safely and to learn basic theoretical and practical knowledge such as positioning on the board, paddling, take-off, weather-marine knowledge, how to overcome the waves, how to spin on foams, weight management and more! Within this course, we follow small groups of up to 6 students for each instructor so that all students can be followed with the utmost care and in complete safety. The course lasts about 4 hours, including transport times, and the practical part in the water will be about 1.5 / 2 hours.
