Both the British and the French built forts to defend themselves from the Spanish and from each other. In 1689 the French were able to capture the British Fort Charles in Sandy Point. By taking cannons to Brimstone Hill which conveniently overlooked Fort Charles. The British were then able to recapture Fort Charles in 1690. Recognizing its strategic importance the British started the building of this magnificent fortress. And that's just a taste of the rich history to be explored on our exclusive hike.

Discover the new capital of Tajikistan Dushanbe and the ancient town Hissar. Today you will go to the fortress of Hisar (VII–XVII centuries), which is 35 km away from the city. There are fortified areas and a citadel on this historical site. The fortress served as the residence of the Emir of Bukhara. Its location was on a high hill, and the gun loopholes protected a 1-meter wall. Inside the fortress, there was a garden, and opposite, there was a lively market with a caravanserai and shops.
