The Sanctuary of Fátima is, par excellence, a place of Christian pilgrimage and Catholic devotion, preserving the memory of the events that led to its foundation, namely the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima to the three shepherds – Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto – in 1917. In this tour, we will visit the place of Aljustrel, the so-called Aldeia de Valinhos, place where the 3 little shepherds lived. Arriving at the sanctuary, we will visit the Basilica of Nossa Senhora do Rosário. The building, which stands out for its 65 meters high tower, is the place where the remains of the three little shepherds rest. We will then visit the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, the most recent of the sanctuary, and the Capelinha das Aparições where, with a little luck, you will have the opportunity to attend a mass. After the visit we return to your hotel in Coimbra.

On this tour we will visit the most popular places southwest of Coimbra. After Alcobaça we drive towards the sea, to the village of Nazaré where we will begin our visits at the Sanctuary, Sítio, Northern Beach to view the waves and ending in the labyrinthine and narrow streets of the village. After visiting the Basilica where the three seers are buried, the Chapel of Apparitions and the modern Holy Trinity Church, free time for praying or attend a celebration (optional). Visit Valinhos, the small village where the three shepherds were born, and visit their homes. Coimbra located in central Portugal, known as the university city, was the capital of the country until 1255. From the banks of the Mondego river to the University hill, the city of Coimbra is intellectual and peculiar, endowed with a particular mysticism. From the university’s balcony we’ll enjoy the views of picturesque landscapes.
