Ran-Tong is devoted to rescuing abused elephants from all over Thailand and surrounding countries. Every elephant rescued is brought to the sanctuary in Chiang Mai and cared for with great passion and enthusiasm. Our mission is not only geared towards the protection and prevention of abused Elephants in Thailand but also to educate the public about their long history within Thai culture. Founded in 2009, Ran-Tong has rescued over 40 elephants to date with the help of public generosity, support, and private donation they can continue their ongoing vital work. Your journey will include a new and animal-friendly experience with the elephants through living with them in a peaceful sanctuary. Safety and sanitization are our first priorities; thus, elephant riding and bathing activities are not offered here. We work with professional mahouts to take care of elephants and refrain from any forms of cruelty. Since you are in Thailand, we would like you to learn a little bit of Thai culture. The journey will take you to get an authentic experience of traditional Thai culture through activities like rubber tapping, making coconut milk, and Thai food cooking sessions. Allow me to introduce myself, my team, and my Elephant Rehabilitation Center. Owned and managed by a former elephant rider (Mahout), while We was established in 2012, my family's involvement with elephants spans over four generations. Before the center, I worked as an elephant rider at the Amber Palace for nine years, providing riding tours to tourists. However, I yearned for something more meaningful for the elephants and sought to dispel misconceptions about their treatment. Driven by this desire, I founded the Rehabilitation Center to provide insight into the lives of Asian elephants and to counter misconceptions about their mistreatment. We welcome visitors to experience our eco-friendly living conditions firsthand and witness the work we do to give elephants a better life.

Since 2017, we have dedicated ourselves to working with elephants as tour guides at our elephant care facility. This journey has provided us with invaluable experience and knowledge about these magnificent creatures. Our mission at Chiangmai Elephant Care is to create a better future for elephants and ensure their happiness. Have you ever wondered how an elephant sees, hears, smells and feels the world? Or what emotions and intellect we share with these big brained, social mammals? This is a one off adventure into the mind, body and soul of an elephant.

We are part of an ethical and sustainable eco-tourism project. We have talked with the elephant carers (Mahout) and invited them to join our project. Our special project purpose to take the chain and saddle off of the elephants, like some projects of Elephants nature park. They are our inspiration. We aim to provide a better life for the elephants. In all of our program activities visitors can observe the elephants in nature as well as gain an insight into their history and behavior. We are happy to provide them a safe, loving and secure environment for them to roam free in a natural environment.

It nurtures them until they are old enough to be reintroduced into the wild.

On this tour, spend a full day taking in the highlights and exploring the wild jungle trails in a car. Our 90 minutes experience start's with feeding to help create a bond between you and your new friends. Guests are given a basket of fruit each to take to the feed station, where they will watch the elephants eat at their own pace as they use their trunks to guide their food into their mouths. Whilst the elephants eat and you enjoy your time with them, our guides will tell you all about their individual stories. You can photograph and watch the elephants at your leisure while you learn about their lifestyle and behaviors. After the feeding is over and you have been introduced to all the elephants, you will walk along with the elephants to the mud spa. It’s time to cover their bodies in mud. This is where they will rub themselves against the mud wall to rub off parasites and exfoliate to remove any dead skin. Next, they will head over to the river. This is where you will observe them wade through the water as they splash, play, and cool themselves down.
