The Chobe National Park is home to some of the most diverse species of animals in the world. Although it is only the third largest park in the country, it is Botswana's first national park and has four distinct ecosystems, making it very unique. The park is especially known for its massive elephant population. It contains an estimated 50,000 elephants. Chobe is also home to over 460 bird species. Making it one of the world's premier destinations for birdwatchers. Experience one of Africa's true wildlife gems in this 11 700 square kilometer wildlife reserve.

The hotel pick ups commerce around 07:00am, guest are transported by road from Livingstone for about 1hr drive to Kazungula one border stop where you shall do your passport formalities for both Zambian and Botswana side just after crossing the newly constructed Kazungula bridge. The guide on Botswana side will be waiting for you, once we met the guide, you drive through to our Botswana office where you shall have a short briefing about the activity. After briefing the guides will decide either to start with a game drive, lunch then river safari cruise or the other way round. Animals available in the park African painted dog, blue wildebeest, Cape buffalo, civet, crocodile, giraffe, hippopotamus, hyena, leopard, lion, puku (a type of antelope, assessed Near Threatened), savanna elephant, tseessebe, zebra, and much more.

Chobe National Park game drives are the number one way to experience the Kasane and the Chobe National Park. We have custom built 4×4 safari vehicles. They have open sides which promise exceptional views of the wildlife for the guests. Professional safari guides lead the game drives in the Chobe Park. Their experience and knowledge provide great insight into the animals’ whereabouts and their behavior. We can’t guarantee specific sightings, but elephants are almost a given, as Chobe has the highest concentration of these fascinating giants in the world! Buffalo, zebra, hyena, giraffe, red lechwe, hippo and crocodiles are often spotted. The bird life is amazing in Chobe with over 460 species of birds. If you’re lucky you can see the big cats like lions and leopards. There are cheetahs too, but they’re very elusive and favor the Linyanti region of the park.

On a Chobe Game Drive you will travel deep into the Chobe National Park in search of Africas Big Five. You will also travel along the Chobe River. Chobe game drives are the number one activity to experience while visiting Kasane and the Chobe National Park. Chobe Game Drives are offered in custom built 4×4 safari vehicles. These vehicles have open sides which offers exceptional views for the guests. All game drives are conducted by qualified guides all registered with the Botswana guiding council. The local experience and knowledge offer a great insight to animals and their behaviour. It is one of the greatest game reserves in southern Africa and famous for the number of elephant that live there. The Chobe River flows lazily through the Caprivi flood plains and provides a haven for huge herds of buffalo and elephant, zebra, wildebeest and impala which are followed closely by predators including lion, hyena, the elusive leopard and the odd pack of the now rare wild dog. The bird life in particular is exceptional.

Clients will be picked from their lodging place in the morning at 645am and driven to Kazungula Border , which is the entry point to Botswana. They will cross over the Zambezi River by speed boat. At the Botswana side they will be taken in 4×4 game viewers where they will do their first activity of the Day which is the River safari. After the boat cruise they will proceed for lunch and relax a bit. They will then assume their Safari game drive in the afternoon which will ultimately see them back to Zambezi River fro their final journey back to Livingstone.

Founded in 1996 African Horizons have been running day and multi day Botswana Safaris for almost 30 years. Rated as Exceptional by Lonely Planet our qualified and Licenced guides will collect you from your place of residence within the Livingstone area. After a 40-60 Minute drive you will cross into Botswana (you need a passport) and you will transfer from our airconditioned mini bus to a game drive vehicle, after a brief stop for a snack and to sign in you will be taken into Chobe National Park. This is an exceptional park with an abundance of animals in the dry season (May-Nov) but still well worth a visit in the Emarald season (Nov-April). You will be taken on a 4×4 safari as well as a boat cruise. Collection at your lodge will be between 6-7am by appointment and return 5-6pm.

Located in the north of the country, Chobe is Botswana's third largest park, has its main geographical features of lush flood plains and dense woodland of mahogany, teak and other hardwoods now largely reduced by heavy elephant pressure. The Chobe River which flows along the Northeast border of the park, is a major watering spot, especially in the dry season (May through October) for large breeding herds of elephants, as well as families of giraffe, sable and cape buffalo. The flood plains are the only place in Botswana where the puku antelope can be seen. Birding is also excellent here. Large numbers of carmine bee eaters are spotted in season. When in flood various species of stork, duck and other waterfowl flock to the area. This is likely Chobe's most visited section, in large part because of its proximity to the Victoria Falls. The town of Kasane, situated just downstream, is the most important town of the region and serves as the northern entrance to the park.
