Drawing Class

The experience is for you who would like to discover Florence with a brush in your hand see the city through new eyes sketching, painting and discover what Florence looks like through an artists lens. Being in Florence means surrounded by art, if you are a creative soul and would like to be creative yourself or you kids would like to create their own masterpieces this course is for you. The course is also for you who would like to get you sketchbook started, or simply dust off old drawing/painting skills. In case of rain or bad weather we'll be on a covered terrace with a fantastic view. The course is for all levels, both beginners and more experienced. My way of teaching is very individual and we'll start from your level and step by step progress from there. We are mostly sitting on stairs or standing during the class so please let me know in advance if you have special needs and I would schedule the class so that we'll go to a place where we can site down during the session.

In classes we learn that drawing is an art to which we must devote time. We learn, little by little, to delay the reinforcement, dedicating more and more time to improve our drawing. We learn to draw vertically on an easel, to hold the pencil in different ways, to separate ourselves from the drawing and look for errors. We learn to structure and simplify. We learn to stop, observe and wait. We learn to pamper what motivates us. We learn much more than drawing in class, but above all we learn to love and take care of what we do.

We will be walking along the path of Renaissance . Drawing the city is quite simple, but in this experience we would like to turn a basic sketch into an artistic image that, with a little help and practice, anyone can express. The Renaissance proposed innovation in all fields of knowledge and encouraged experimentation. Let's try to embrace its meaning in a modern way by making art inspired by Florence. Leonardo experimented and tried to know every aspect of reality by creating and researching. Starting from the drawing to experimentally design an artistic image will be our way of proceeding without forgetting the fun in doing so. Enjoy few hours as an artist designing your illustration and learn new techniques to express in art your Florentine travel experience. We will be inspired by the wonder of Florentine architecture and by the Renaissance but in a modern way. Is not difficult to just embrace creativity! Our artistic atelier has been offering lessons and workshops since 2018. Our artistic experiences are designed for all people who love art and are suitable for all levels and ages. Our goal is to spread traditional techniques in the contemporary panorama, encouraging travelers to rediscover their own essence born in Florence, cradle of Renaissance art. Furthermore, with this type of artistic experience, we intend to offer each participant a unique and educational adventure, which at the same time gives emotions, in order to make their stay in Florence unforgettable. This workshop is an unique experience for visitors who want to immerse themselves in the world of Japanese manga and anime culture. You will be supported by a professional manga artist who has been creating manga for over 20 years, using traditional techniques that have evolved over the past 100 years, allowing you to create your very own manga. Visitors will draw manga using the same process as a professional manga artist: ideation, rough sketching, drafting, inking, filling in solid blacks, applying screen tones, and adding speech bubbles. Don't worry if you're unsure about your drawing skills. With the support of a manga artist, those worries will disappear. In fact, people who had the same concerns have successfully completed high-quality manga in just two hours. *The minimum number of participants is 2 people. Originating from Kanazawa, Kutani ware is a distinctive style of Japanese porcelain famous for its vibrant colors and intricate designs. As the only Kutani ware kiln in the city, Kutani Kosen Kiln, established in 1870, remains one of the most revered ceramic studios in the region. The kiln produces exquisite handcrafted pottery using time-honored techniques, with skilled craftsmen specializing in the delicate art of painting and glazing. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn the drawing techniques on Kutani ware. During this approx. 1 hour workshop, you will sketch and draw your design on a blank vessel and select your preferable colors from the Japanese pallette for your design before the workshop is concluded. Later, your work will be completed by a skilled craftsmen based on your selected colors by using traditional Kutani pigments. After painting, the piece will be fired in the kiln and shipped to you within about three months (shipping fee is at your expense).

Kolam is a traditional art originated in South India. It is a tradition for women to practice it every morning by putting ephemeral patterns on the front door. It is a way to meditate and also to invite Goddess and prosperity to their home. In this 1.5-hour class, you will not only learn how to make kolam, but also get some insight about Indian culture. Both children over 6 years old and adults are welcome to experience this unique culture of India!
