Take home with you the story you made in Japan. Kintsugi is a delicate technique; you are NOT allowed to bring any personal ceramic pieces to this course. You will use the plates prepared for beginners by the studio. In 2024, Master Taku is awarded with the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon, the honorable commendation given to individuals who have made significant achievements in the fields of science, art, invention, improvement, and creation this year. Not only his talents as an artist, but also the fact that he dedicates a portion of profit to the charity was the big reason for winning this award. We will get to know Oaxaca, culture, history, art and gastronomy. We take a tour with a professional team, we will visit 5 special places in Oaxaca. The first is the wonderful archaeological area of Monte Alban where we take a 2-hour hike with a certified guide. The second place to know is the house – workshop of a wood carving artisan or Alebrijes in San Martin Tilcajete. Third place is to eat at a local traditional food buffet restaurant. The fourth place is the house – workshop of a hip or waist loom craftsman in Santo Tomas Jalieza. The fifth and final place to visit is the house – workshop of a master black mud craftsman in San Bartolo Coyotepec.

We will guide you through the process of filling cotton in your zabuton (Japanese floor cushion). This is a uniquely Japanese method of stuffing cotton into the square fabric. Our futon craftsman will carefully show and teach you that century-old traditional secret on a tatami mat. If there is more time, we will teach you not only how to stuff the cotton, but also how to stitch the fabric together and attach tassels. You can take your finished zabuton home in a classic kimono style bag made from leftover futon fabric! You can use your zabuton on the plane on your way home. You will also see other futon craftsmen working around you, handcrafting a variety of traditional futons! These futons are made to order, not only from Japan, but from all over the world. An invitation to an artistic time travel discovering the secrets of wood carving. The woodcarving workshop takes place in the gallery of Michael Arvanitis where he exhibits his works. The gallery is a traditional cave building in the picturesque village of Megalochori. In this class, Michalis Arvanitis will help you become familiar with how tools are used to give shape and form to wood and he will teach you how to carve.

In this tour/activity we will learn more about Sarajevo's traditional crafts. One of them is of course the coppersmithing. We will also meet with our local artist, a coopersmith, and with his help make a small and unique souvenir for you to take home 🙂 Coopersmith is an old name for a craftsman, who designs or modifies (modifies) jewelry and small ornaments of silver or copper. This craft is, in fact, a kind of art since small ornaments are made where inventiveness, skill and precision are needed. Earlier, hand tools were used and the work was done mostly by hand. Contemporary technology for the processing of materials and decoration making has recently been used. The coppersmiths also use various types of precious stones in their work.
