Cotopaxi National Park is located in the eastern mountain range of the Andes. Cotopaxi is the second-highest volcano in Ecuador with a height of 5897 meters. It is surrounded by other mountains such as Sincholagua, Pasochoa, and Rumiñahui, all within the avenue of volcanoes. With its wonderful symmetrical shape, it is an excellent stratovolcano, translated from Quichua into Spanish as the neck of the moon.

The 90 minutes drive from Quito to Cotopaxi is full of beautifull mountains and cosy small villages. Arriving to Cotopaxi the local guide will be waiting with helmets, ponchos and horses. Then you will ride a horse for 2-3 hours around the grassland and the beautifull volcano. In the way back we will enjoy a lunchbox and then continue to the Limpiopungo lagoon. The lagoon is located in a flat highland where you will hike for 1 hour around it. That is an amazing place to see the local plants, flowers and birds. We do a different tour to Cotopaxi. We enter through the North entrance of it. The tour is for places where tourists do not go, with the #ebike we have the opportunity to visit sites that make them accessible to all. Then we take the road that goes to the shelter and if we have the conditions we can go up to the parking lot at 4650 meters. Immediately on foot, we can continue until 4860m. After we'll return to Quito.

Leaving Quito on the Panamericana South, we reach the Park entrance and begin our visit to the natural history museum before continuing up Cotopaxi. We ascend the mountain as high as possible to the parking lot at 4500 meters. From here, a short 45-minutes walk takes us up to the refuge. Coming down again from the «Refugio», we will drive across the páramo to the Limpiopungo Lake. On a short walk around the lake, we can observe a variety of birds and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

In this tour, we will visit the spectacular Cotopaxi volcano, the second highest volcano in Ecuador. You will have a chance to see the beautiful lagoon of Limpiopungo.
