Located at only 30 km from Cluj-Napoca, Cheile Turzii (Turda Gorge) is one of the most beautiful gorges from Romania. There are 2 alternatives for this tour: a) the adventurous one, where we climb the via ferrata from the gorge; b) the easy one, where we hike through a lot of scenic viewpoints above the gorge. You can specify which option you prefer when you book a tour. The climbing is very easy (no technical experience required), starting from the river level and making our way up the gorge, passing through a vertical cave called "Grota lui Hili". The via ferrata is one way only, and the climbing down will be made on a hiking trail. Alternatively, if you have fear of heights or you are not a big fan of adrenaline, you can choose the hiking option (b). The views are just as breathtaking. A Via Ferrata, which means “iron way” in Italian, is a method of mountaineering & rock climbing that’s been used in Europe for centuries. Via Ferrata courses use a combination of ladders, rungs, rails, cables and bridges to aid in moving across and up a cliff face. The Iron Way in Idaho Springs is an assisted rock climbing guided tour where guests clip into cables that run along the side of a cliff. They then move along a designated path of iron rungs and bridges to move across, and along the way they will be required to clip in and out of the cable to progress through the course. This is made possible through an advanced internal locking system in the carabiners. Each guest will have 2 carabiners connected to bungee-style lanyards on their harness. The internal locking system makes it impossible to clip out of both at the same time, insuring that climbers are connected to the cable of the course at all times.

The Ponoig Via Ferrata has an approximate length of 230 meters and its difficulty is K4. It is quite vertical, so it is ideal to have covered something else that is less difficult. Even so, it is not essential, since with us it is suitable for those who are also starting out in this daring sport. The route of the Ponoig Via Ferrata is divided into two well-differentiated sections, although both vertical. As soon as you start climbing you will realize how many staples you need to grab to get to the top. They are quite close together, so verticality is more impressive than difficult.
