Located at only 30 km from Cluj-Napoca, Cheile Turzii (Turda Gorge) is one of the most beautiful gorges from Romania. There are 2 alternatives for this tour: a) the adventurous one, where we climb the via ferrata from the gorge; b) the easy one, where we hike through a lot of scenic viewpoints above the gorge. You can specify which option you prefer when you book a tour. The climbing is very easy (no technical experience required), starting from the river level and making our way up the gorge, passing through a vertical cave called "Grota lui Hili". The via ferrata is one way only, and the climbing down will be made on a hiking trail. Alternatively, if you have fear of heights or you are not a big fan of adrenaline, you can choose the hiking option (b). The views are just as breathtaking. The climbing course will be organized in small group of climbers, offering individual support and coaching. Course is taking place in Soča valley, on one of the climbing areas in beautiful surroundings of Bovec. Our instructor will present you all the equipment, basic climbing steps and safety actions for climbing in pairs. You will eventually start to do safety for your climbing partners, and when feeling comfortable in that, you have time and place to climb the day out. Consider spending a day climbing the world’s longest wooden staircase. With its 4444 steps, Flørli is known to be one of the scariest stairs in the world. The climb is long and strenuous, but provides great lookout points where you can stop to catch your breath while enjoying the vista over the Lysefjord down below. This is a two-part hike that does not take you through the same scenery more than once. The descent follows the hundred-year old marked trail that was once used by the “Rallarer”. Rallarer were often underprivileged men that were employed in the 1800s Norway to help build infrastructure. They are remembered to have carried up to 80 kg loads on their backs, and are the ones that built the stairs along with the Flørli Hydroelectric Power Station at their base. The dam at Ternevatnet, which the return trail passes, also stands as a reminder of their mastery.
