Beagle Channel

We work with small groups of up to 25 passengers in a familiar and friendly environment with the company of professional Spanish and English speaking guides. The excursions are carried out with the “KAMS and“ TELIENKA ”yachts, twin boats of 15 meters in length, which due to their dimensions allow a maximum approach to the islands allowing preferential sightings. During our tour we visit Isla Alicia, Isla de Pájaros and Isla de Lobos, where we make very close sightings of the fauna of the Beagle Channel. We know the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse built in 1919, a true emblem of the City of Ushuaia. At the end, we disembark at Bridges Island to go through a path of interpretation of flora and birds, telling them the history of the Yámanas aborigines. Here are the largest anthropogenic Yámanas shells in the region. It also has a panoramic point from where we can observe the magnificence of the Beagle Channel with the City of Ushuaia in the distance.

We set sail from the local tourist pier crossing the wide Bay of Ushuaia until we reach the Beagle Channel through Paso Chico. There we will sail around the Island of the Birds where we will be able to appreciate the Fuegian avifauna. We will observe: Skúas, Black-browed Albatross, Vapor Ducks, Cauquenes, Cook Gulls and Gray Gulls. Then, we will approach Isla de los Lobos where we will be able to observe sea lions with one and two hairs. Both islands belong to the Bridges archipelago. Arriving at Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse (The Illuminators), we will be able to see the colonies of Imperial Cormorants and Rock Cormorants while listening to the story of the sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes that he starred in 1930. We will make a descent in Puerto Karelo, belonging to the Bridges Islands, where you can visit genuine Yámana shell middens. This guided walk lasts approximately 20 minutes and concentrates us on a panoramic point where very good photographs can be taken.

The cruise departs from Ushuaia’s Tourist Pier, offering panoramic views of the coast, including landmarks like the Maritime Museum and Mount Olivia. Sailing southwest, we approach Los Lobos Island to observe sea lions, then continue to Los Pájaros Island, home to Magellanic and Imperial cormorants. Crossing the Beagle Channel, we view Gable Island and Puerto Williams before reaching Martillo Island, where we observe curious Magellanic penguins swimming and nesting. I lived the experience of touring the Fuegian landscapes on our assisted bicycles. An eco-friendly proposal that allows you to enjoy a different activity in first person. Along an alternative route of forests and peat bogs we ascend towards the Martial Glacier to be dazzled by the panoramic views offered to us of the Onashaga Channel and its islands to the south; as well as the glacier and the mountains that surround it to the north.
