Five Art Studio, nestled in the cultural heart of Keliki, invites you to discover the rich tradition of Indonesian batik through our Batik Painting Class. This hands-on experience offers a deep dive into one of Indonesia’s most treasured art forms, where you'll learn the centuries-old techniques of wax-resist dyeing. Guided by skilled local artists, you’ll create your batik artwork, gaining insight into the cultural significance and history behind each design. Malaysian Batik Experience-Handkerchief


Batik is one of the Malaysia's unique art and craft. In this activity, you will have the opportunity to create your your own batik master piece and bring back home. Our instructors will guide you how to use a special tool to draw hot wax on cotton fabric and use brush to paint dye on it. We will guide you how to mix color and create gradient. No experience is needed and you will have fun.

From Sapa Handmade Product: Hmong Batik Workshop Private Tour


Learn about the history of indigo batik among the Hmong tribe in Sapa. Discover how the Hmong people started using batik and how it has become a part of their traditional dress. Create your own batik piece to take home with you. Before the workshop starts, listen to the guide explain the process and how the Hmong people started with batik. Hear how the people who went into the forest to collect honey came across forests of indigo and got caught in wax and indigo, which turned their clothes black. When their clothes were washed, the wax came away and the original white color was left on those pieces of cloth, while the rest turned blue. The Hmong people thanked the bees for this discovery and to this day patterns of bees are drawn onto the traditional dress.
