On this tour we will visit the most popular places southwest of Coimbra. In Fátima we will go to Aljustrel, the place where the little shepherds lived and in the Sanctuary we will visit the Basilicas and the Apparições Chapel. We continue to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória. Imposing, it stands out for its monumentality and the stone tracery on the outside, marks that make it easily identifiable. Once the visit is complete, we move on to Alcobaça to visit the Alcobaça Monastery, which has a prominent place, not only because of its almost 900 year old history, but also because it is a notable example of Cistercian architecture. After Alcobaça we drive towards the sea, to the village of Nazaré where we will begin our visits at the Sanctuary, Sítio, Northern Beach to view the waves and ending in the labyrinthine and narrow streets of the village. At a time to be agreed, we will return to the starting point, Coimbra.

Afterwards, we'll visit Nazaré where you will be able to take in some massive views and learn about the legends and traditions of this unique place that was once a fishing village and is now a surfing Meca. After lunch in Nazaré, it's time to visit Batalha Monastery, a true masterpiece of Portuguese Late Gothic architecture. You will see the marvelous royal pantheon and learn all about the Battle (Batalha) of Aljubarrota, which paved the way for Portugal to become the first global empire.

The Convent of the Knights Templar in Tomar, surrounded by the walls of the Castle of Tomar, was initially built in the XII century for the Templar Order. The tour continues through the Monastery of Batalha, built by King João to commemorate the victory over the Castilians at Aljubarrota Battle, in 1385. The Monastery is one of the masterpieces of Gothic art. At small distance, we will find The Monastery of Alcobaça, founded in the 12th century by Our first King D. Afonso Henriques.
