Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe, measuring 16 km, giving you the opportunity to meet rare structures and species of the Cretan flora and fauna like the unique goat species named Kri-Kri that one can only find in Crete. Through a beautiful route among small traditional mountainous villages you reach Xyloskalo in the plateau of Omalos, the northern entrance of the gorge at an altitude of 1,250 m. As you keep walking you will pass from the “Sideroportes” (Iron doors) the narrowest point of Samaria, ending at the shores of the Libyan Sea in Agia Roumeli where you can definitely rest, eat and swim. It is exactly what you need! Apart from this, during your hike there are a lot of interesting historical points like the temple of Apollo, giving you a great combination of nature and Greek History.

Passing from the Achillion Palace, built for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria (Sissy), this walk takes you on an exploration of “Gastourion” village and to the summit of Mount “Agia Kyriaki” (288 meters). The hike has many spots associated with the Empress, and there are several lovely viewpoints which the best of all is up to the chapel, facing the magnificent view of east coast with picturesque “Pontikonisi” (Mouse Island) and Corfu Town. The walk is mostly inside dense vegetation and part on road.

The tour will star with a pick up form your hotel or a nearby point. After approximately 1,5 hour drive through a beautiful landscape, we reach the picturesque village of Sougia. From there we will continue our tour with boat following the coastline to the Village of Agia Roumeli ! During your stay in the village you will have plenty of time to cross Samaria Gorge from its exit to the Iron Gates. The distance you can walk is 3 km form the village to the entrance of gorge and 1,5 km further up to the Iron Gates , one of the most interesting points of the gorge! Late in the afternoon we will take the same boat to get back to the port of Chora Sfakion where our coach will be waiting for us in order to drive back to Chania .

Every week Art and Walk guides you through a forest path to the Agia Kyriaki church overlooking the Aegean sea. The walk starts in Pigadia at the taxi-station where we take the stairs up to a beautiful viewpoint of Pigadia. Our meeting point is at our office Milos Adventures at 14:25 in the port of Adamas where a van will be waiting to go to Agia Kyriaki to start the cruise around 15:30. *The program is subject to changes depending on weather conditions and at the discretion of the skipper. The Battle of Crete is unique because it's the first attack in history prepared and performed exclusively by airborne units! It was a man to man battle where belligerents had little support from their far-flung bases. In this tour we will give a detailed account of the battle of Crete regarding equipment, units, strengths and weaknesses, defence and attack positions, the course of battle and various stories! We can focus on specific units, nationalities or any interest you might have and customize the tour. We will visit the main battle locations in western Crete at Maleme and Galatas, two Cemeteries, an amazing collection of artifacts from the battle and a couple of Memorials. Bring a 10GB USB stick to load some reports, books, diaries, maps and photos of the Battle of Crete!

On your Samaria gorge adventure, the bus will take you first along the north coast and then up into the White Mountains to the Omalos Plateau and the entrance to the gorge. There, at a height of 1.100m, you will begin the 16km walk through the longest and most beautiful gorge in Europe. After the strenuous but spectacular walk, you will be conveyed by boat on an equally glorious trip from Agia Roumeli, the village at the end of the gorge, to Chora Sfakion, where the bus will be waiting to take you back home. Good walking shoes are necessary. The hike is not suggested for people facing health problems, or suffering from conditions affecting their lower extremities the elderly pregnant women.

Chania is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe dating back to Minoan civilization around 5.000BC. In this tour we will try to trace the remains of civilizations, in the buildings and monuments. By doing so we will go through the waterfront, alleyways, fortifications, viewpoints and marks of the past. We will see how Chania has changed over time, the buildings added and destroyed! The city was divided in the Christian, Muslim and Jewish quarters. We will go through them where we will show you historic points of interest not so obvious to the average visitor. Although the tour focuses on history, we will explore the culture and traditions of Chania and how they have merged to form the modern day city of Chania!
